Summary
Established leader in manufacturing equipment located in Ann Arbor, MI is searching for an electrical engineer to join its mechanical, electrical and controls engineering team. The selected individual will design electrical systems for high performance balancing equipment, as well as identifying opportunities for design improvement, process improvement, and cost reduction, as well as taking the initiative on implementation of those changes.
Responsibilities
- Electrical design of machines and electrical panels
- PLC programming
- Identify opportunities for design improvement, manufacturing process improvement, and cost reduction
- Produce associated conceptual drawings and instructions for improvement, communicate ideas to management and team, guide team in implementing change
- Conceptualize, design and analyze parts, components, assemblies, subassemblies and systems
Key Skills and Abilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to identify and implement design, quality, cost, process improvements
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Multi-tasking and the ability to work on several jobs simultaneously.
- Ability to develop, read, and analyze blueprints
- Understanding of manufacturing techniques used to create parts, such as machining, soldering, milling, and drilling
- Proficiency in Auto Cad or similar CAD platform
Experience and Education
- Bachelors of Science in electrical engineering required, Masters degree preferred
- 4-6 years experience as a design engineer
- 1-3 years experience with programmable logic controllers
- Experience troubleshooting problems related to implementation of your designs Person Specification
- Interest in improving design quality and engineering processes, and reducing overall design, manufacturing, and service costs
- Comfortable working hands-on in a manufacturing environment
- Team player
